Daily News Endorses Hakeem's Support of Atlantic Yards

Well, we had missed this one somehow. It sure contradicts Hakeem's Liar Flyer. From the Daily News endorsement of Hakeem Jeffries:
7th Assembly District (Fort Greene, Crown Heights, Prospect Heights): Lawyer HAKEEM JEFFRIES has been a cautious supporter of the Atlantic Yards project and gets the nod over Freddie Hamilton, a longtime district leader, and former union activist Bill Batson.
Just as we suspected, it's a Liar Flyer. And that's pandering.

To paraphrase from the last Presidential: He supported it, before he pretended not to support it.

Go vote today.

Go work with a campaign that has never seen a fence or worn rubber toe-sandals.

Go Vote for:

BILL BATSON

CHRIS OWENS

BILL BARRON

VELMANETTE MONTGOMERY

KEN DIAMONDSTONE

OLANIKE ALABI

BILL SAUNDERS

SEAN PATRICK MALONEY

and enjoy the party when it's over. Win or lose. You've worked hard.

Yeah the daily news has been wooed by Hakeem Jeffries innocently complacent blue eyes!

Looks like I went about one for twelve on the night (go Velmanette!). Following the results on NY1 what's striking is not only how so many people can fall for the BS, but also how few people care. Less that 10,000 people voted in the 57 race.

Goldstein's political career? We thought he was a homeowner faced with eminent domain, not a politician.

please Goldstein has been DYING to be a political middle man. he is so desperate for power, give us a break.

btw- brilliant strategy, avoid the public hearing and have your voice heard at the polls. the voice was heard and people like Atlantic Yards. Stop the non sense.

I'll try to help break down DDDB's losing strategy. In Hakeem Jeffries, you all had a candidate who was willing to sit down with you for six hours and hear out your concerns. But instead of embracing the commonalities between his views of AY and your own, you instead accentuated the differences and sought out Batson, who had no natural base in the district and thus no choice but to run as a one-issue candidate.

Even worse, once out on the campaign trail, Lucy, Dan and Co. were often petulant and mean -- often impugning Jeffries' integrity and motives, positive qualities that were never really questioned by the average voter. (To Batson's credit, he personally rose above the tactics of some of you.)

After having trounced their candidate, Jeffries would have every right now to ignore you, especially because you've been largely smoked out as the wealthiest couple-thousand people living within a half-mile of the AY site.

But Hakeem is likely much bigger than that. But since I don't know what he'll do, I'll instead offer some advice to you Batsonites nursing wounds this morning. I know it will be tough, but some open contrition in the days ahead directed to the victor -- recognizing how some of you really smeared Jeffries -- might go a long way to healing the breach.

And in taking my advice, you might also learn one of the best lessons of this election: being nice never hurts your cause.
